The Committee
The SECB was appointed by the Federal Council as an independent expert advisory committee in 1996.
Members - SECB members have expertise in the areas of biotechnology, gene technology, the environment and health, and represent various protection and exploitation interests.
SECB tasks - The SECB advises the authorities on the protection of people and the environment in the biotechnology and gene technology sector.
Legal foundations - Several laws and ordinances form the basis for the work of the SECB.
Cooperation - The SECB cooperates with federal and cantonal authorities, and with various other committees.
Gene Therapy Working Group - The Gene Therapy Working Group is a sub-group of the SECB and consists of experts with different specialities.
